Foreign Language Learning Colloquium Speaker Series Workshop Entitled: Learning Pragmatics from Nonnative Teachers

Dr. Andrew Cohen, Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota

Participants will peruse a 20-question survey about their handling of pragmatics in a target language that they teach or have taught as a native- or nonnative instructor. Highlights will be presented from the administration of this survey internationally to native- and nonnative teachers. Participants will then discuss the ramifications of what it means to be a nonnative teacher of a language with respect to issues of pragmatics.
