Tracy Bishop earned his Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics and Philology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002. He serves as the Coordinator of Spanish 308, Advanced Grammar and Composition II, and Systems Coordinator of Placement and Assessment. He teaches advanced Spanish language and linguistics classes, including Spanish 411, Advanced Grammar and Syntax, and Spanish 370, Introduction to Hispanic Linguistics.

Dr. Bishop’s thesis work on a parallel edition and lexical study of El baladro del sabio Merlín has led to his current interest in lexicology, computational and corpus linguistics, and the application of these fields to the teaching of second language reading strategies. His publications include “Lusisms in the Baladro del sabio Merlin, Burgos 1498 and Seville 1535,” “Transcription and Concordances of El baladro del sabio Merlín, Burgos 1498,” “Transcription and Concordances of El baladro del sabio Merlín, Seville 1535” and “Readings on L2 reading: Publications in other venues during 2007-2008.” He has also written several items for Spark Publishing, including the study guides “Let’s Talk Spanish,” “Spanish Vocabulary” and “Spanish Idioms and Advanced Vocabulary”.
