Emanuela Corbetta received her Laurea (cum Laude) from the Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia of the Università di Bologna and an M.B.A. from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA. She also holds a degree in simultaneous interpretation and translation for Italian-English-Spanish. Her Laurea dissertation was on the theater of Jerzy Grotowski, and she continues to cultivate and enrich her knowledge of contemporary theater and cinema, especially Spanish and Italian.
A native of Italy, Emanuela grew up in Venice and has lived and worked in various cities in the US (Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis) as well as in Madrid, Spain. In these places she has worked as a manager for various cultural and nonprofit organizations, while also teaching – since 1984, albeit intermittently for certain years - Italian language and literature. She is a founder of the Italian Cultural Center in Minneapolis, which opened in 2005.
At Washington University in St. Louis, she teaches Italian and Spanish classes while she continues her translation activity. She is currently translating a monograph on intellectual property and innovation from English into Italian.
