
Emily Guignon completed her PhD in 18th Century French Literature at Washington University in 1987, and has taught in the department since 1980. Coordinator of the Intermediate French sequence (201), she has particular interest in Speech-act and Discourse theory in literature, twentieth century theater, and pedagogy. A Senior Lecturer, she has taught and coordinated every level of language courses as well as taught various topics and survey courses.
Her article “What Saying is About: Speech as Act in Jacques le fataliste” appeared in Studies on Voltaire and the Eighteenth Century in 1988.
