Graduate Student Application Requirements
Admissions
To be considered for admission to our doctoral program you will need to submit the following application materials. The online application and all supporting materials for Fall 2019 admission must be received by January 5, 2019.
- Apply to the Graduate School
- Three letters of recommendation. See Guidelines for Recommenders.
- Certified copies of transcripts. *Transcripts and recommendation letters written in a language other than English must be translated into English by a certified translator
- GRE
- TOEFL (for applicants whose native language is not English). See the Graduate School’s application page for more on the TOEFL.
- Writing sample (of around 20 pages; this could be a final essay for a course, a chapter from an honors or master’s thesis, or a published article)
- Certified translations of transcripts and recommendation letters written in a language other than English or French.

Instructions for those applying to the PhD Program in Hispanic Studies: Supporting materials such as letters of recommendation, transcripts, and writing samples can all be uploaded through the application portal.
