Ángela María Plefka is a Colombian sixth-year Ph.D. student. She holds a Masters and Bachelors degree in Literature from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). Her thesis, ¿Cómo gestar un Homo Sovieticus en casa?, analyzed the leverage of Stalinist dictatorship on the writing process of Mikhail Bulgakov's Heart of a dog (1926). Currently, she writes her dissertation covering contemporary representations of violence in Latinoamerican literature (Chile, Colombia, and Mexico), after decades of its occurrence, in terms of memory, urban spaces, and bodies, on behalf of complex economic, political, and social transformations in those countries.
