Lacey Ramirez is a PhD student in French and Francophone Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2015, she earned her dual BA and BS in French and Physiology at Southern Illinois University in her hometown Carbondale, IL. She then pursued an MS in Global Health and Population at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where her thesis research focused on barriers to healthcare experienced by Romani women migrants living in Marseille, France.
Lacey has since worked as a global research consultant for the Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University, Kavle Consulting LLC, USAID, UNFPA, and Partners in Health, among other organizations. Through this work, she has led teams of students in analyzing qualitative data on projects that intersect gender and health in Francophone countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As a doctoral student, her interests center around the intersection between the French language and maternal health. Outside of academic work, Lacey is a yoga teacher and has worked as a doula. She also enjoys creative writing, coffee shops, and exploring St. Louis with her two children.
