Marisa Barragán-Peugnet's area of specialization is Peninsular and Latin American literature. She is currently the Coordinator of Placement for Spanish, Assistant Coordinator of Data for Assessment of Spanish, French, and Italian, Coordinator of Language and Culture for the Heritage Speakers of Spanish, and a Senior Lecturer of Spanish. Classes taught include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Spanish Grammar and Composition classes; Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Culture, Spanish Oral Communication I and II, Cultures and Communication in the Spanish- speaking World I, Cultures and Communication in the Spanish-speaking World II, as well as Language and Culture for Heritage Speakers of Spanish. In addition, she has served as Summer Coordinator of Placement for Spanish, Assistant Coordinator of Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition, Coordinator of Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Culture, Coordinator of both Oral Communications I and II, Coordinator of Language and Culture for Heritage Speakers of Spanish, Coordinator of the Elementary Sequence of Spanish 101 and 102, a liaison for the Washington University Program La Casa Española, assisted with tutoring to business employees going abroad, and a supervisor assistant for the Washington University volunteer tutoring/ mentoring program Acción Social Comunitaria that serves Hispanic youths in the St. Louis Community.
