    Robinson Etienne is a PhD student in French and Francophone at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his BA in Applied Linguistics from the State University of Haiti (Université d’État d’Haïti) in 2008 and his MA in Language Science (theorical and descriptive linguistics) from the same University in 2014.

    His linguistic research focuses on Haitian Creole syntax and semantics and discourse analysis. During his career, he taught Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, and English in both public and private schools. He also worked as a translator for several years.

    He also attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and received his M.A. in French Literature in 2024. His thesis focused on Francophone African literature and postcolonialism.

    Now a PhD student, he is interested in postcolonial studies, translation, immigration, second language acquisition, Haitian Creole language and literature, and film and media studies.

    In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys playing and watching soccer and riding his bike.
