Dr. Antoinette Barffour is a lecturer of French in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St Louis. She teaches Level 4 and 5 French courses: Advanced French Grammar courses and Introduction to Literary and Cultural Analysis. Dr. Barffour is also the Co-coordinator for French Level 1 and 2 Essential French courses and advises novice Teaching Assistants.
Dr. Barffour had her Bachelors in French and English from the University of Ghana and the University of Strasbourg, France. She did her first Master’s degree in Science du Language from the University of Strasbourg and her second Masters in French Linguistics from Indiana University Bloomington. She completed her PhD in French and Applied Linguistics from the University of Alabama. Her research focuses on analyzing both the linguistic and socio-linguistic impact of French-English contact – with specific interest on the scope of English loanwords in French written texts and advertisements; and the perceptions of natives of France toward this usage.
