    Maurice Tetne is a Ph.D student in French Language and Literature and a writer. He won the first prize in the 2021 American Journal of French Studies creative writing contest. He obtained a BA in African Literature and Civilizations from the University of Douala, Cameroon, and a Maîtrise in the same major from the University of Yaoundé 1, Cameroon. After his master’s degree in French Studies at the University of New Mexico, he was hired as Adjunct Faculty at Santa Fe Community College, New Mexico, where he taught French at lower and intermediate levels. Tetne’s doctoral project examines regional French and the aesthetics of their transcription in literature and cinema. His work is a comparative survey of  Louisiana and sub-Saharan Africa, two linguistic areas that significantly impact standard French, domesticating and regionalizing it.
