Shirley Anghel

Shirley Anghel is a scholar of modern and contemporary Iberian literatures and cultures with a focus on race & coloniality, religion & politics, secularization, migration and Mediterranean studies.
She is currently a PhD Candidate in Hispanic Studies in the Department of Romance Languages at Washington University in St. Louis where she has taught all levels of Spanish language. Prior to Wash U, Anghel was a Fellow for the Dartmouth Institute of Writing & Rhetoric. She graduated with an MA in Comparative Literature from Dartmouth College in 2013. Born in Venezuela, she was raised in the United States.
